A dispensing pump is specified by its neck finish before anything else: 18/410, 20/410, 24/410 or 28/410. The first number is the neck diameter in millimetres, the second is the thread standard — 410 is a single-start thread common across cosmetic packaging. Get this wrong and the pump simply will not seat on the bottle, which is the most common and most expensive mistake in a first order. Beyond fit, the choice is about dose and viscosity: smaller necks suit serums and treatments dosed in small amounts, larger necks move thicker lotions without the pump stalling.
